Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Team Lead to join our specialized MEP consulting firm focused on industrial facilities design and advanced technology systems. This leadership role combines hands-on technical expertise with team management responsibilities, overseeing complex process-mechanical engineering projects from conceptual design through construction administration. The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on industrial retrofit and clean manufacturing facility projects.
Important to note, while this is a remote / WFH position, candidates must reside in the United States and be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of clients across different time zones.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Management:
  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams on industrial facility projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Manage and oversee project scope, schedules, and budgets while maintaining quality standards and client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and specialty consultants throughout project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical oversight during construction administration phase, including RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, and field observations.
  • Implement effective scope management strategies to minimize scope creep and maintain project profitability.
Technical Design & Engineering:
  • Develop and review P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) for assigned scope deliverables.
  • Design process-mechanical systems for clean warehouses, manufacturing, and industrial facility new build and retrofits.
  • Perform equipment sizing, selection, and specification for process-mechanical systems.
  • Apply expertise in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles to optimize system performance.
  • Conduct process flow analysis and system optimization studies.
Team Leadership & Development:
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers, designers, and project coordinators.
  • Provide technical guidance and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Help manage workload distribution and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Provide input to the Leadership team related to individual team member performance.
  • Foster collaborative team environment promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance & Standards:
  • Perform comprehensive QA/QC review of design packages and construction documents.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Uphold company design standards and implement best practices across all projects.
  • Maintain drawing quality and technical accuracy in AutoCAD and Revit deliverables.
Client Relations & Business Development:
  • Serve as a primary technical contact for key client accounts.
  • Lead technical presentations and design charrettes with client teams.
  • Support business development activities through technical proposal preparation.
  • Maintain strong client relationships to ensure repeat business and referrals.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required - must be currently licensed in at least one U.S. state with ability to obtain reciprocity in project states.
  • Master's degree in engineering preferred but not required with sufficient experience.
  • Minimum 8-12 years of progressive engineering experience in industrial facilities, process systems, or MEP consulting
  • 5+ years of project management experience leading engineering teams and managing client relationships.
  • 3+ years of direct supervisory experience leading engineers, designers, and technical support staff.
  • Demonstrated experience with process-mechanical systems in industrial environments such as clean manufacturing facilities, warehouse retrofits, or similar specialized projects preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for production of construction documents and design deliverables
  • Strong knowledge of P&ID development and process system design principles
  • Experience with equipment sizing software and engineering calculation tools
  • Familiarity with process safety management principles and industrial safety standards
  • Understanding of construction administration processes and field coordination

Preferred:
  • Experience with specialty industrial markets such as semiconductor, chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or food processing facilities
  • Additional engineering licenses in multiple states
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • LEED AP or other sustainability credentials
  • Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection processes
  • Background in design-build or EPC project delivery methods
